YAMOUSSOUKRO, Ivory Coast (AP) ? Politicians and Ivory Coast's most famous soccer player are launching a Truth and Reconciliation Commission after months of postelection violence.
At least 3,000 people were killed from December to April, when United Nations airstrikes finally forced the country's entrenched ruler Laurent Gbagbo to cede power to the winner of the poll Alassane Ouattara.
The South African-style Truth and Reconciliation Commission being inaugurated Wednesday is expected to hear grievances from the families of people killed by Gbagbo's military.
It also will hear testimony about those murdered by the rebel fighters Ouattara enlisted to help him take power. Chelsea soccer star Didier Drogba is expected to be one of the members of the commission.
